Menjivar Newsletter December 2025

Welcome, Burbank & San Fernando Valley Friends!

2025 year collage

2025 was a whirlwind of activity, but one theme remained constant. Our 818 communities always come together, stand up for one another, do the work needed, and protect the unity among neighbors that makes Burbank and the San Fernando Valley so strong.

This year, I hosted 14 events—from coffees and Town Halls to signature events like Pride and The Power of Herfluence. We served over 800 families at our annual Turkey Giveaway, distributed more than $6,500 in toys, and provided 30 air purifiers in Sun Valley. Team Menjivar and I joined almost 300 community events, ribbon cuttings, and tours hosted by you. And we can’t forget EIGHT bills signed! THANK YOU for an incredible year. Let's make our work in 2026 even more impactful! Enjoy the RECAP.

In the Community

Community Holiday Party with Grinch

Our hearts grew three times their size (even the Grinch’s!), during Senate District 20’s Third Annual COMMUNITY HOLIDAY PARTY. Team Menjivar and I transformed the Van Nuys State Building into Menjville, complete with snow tubing, who-chow, Kost 103.5 spinning holiday tunes, 360 photo booth, and raffles where the Grinch helped me give presents to the community instead of stealing them! WATCH all the holiday joy.

HUGE thank you to everyone who dropped a new sports toy at the Menjiville Post Office. Because of generous donations to our toy drive, we were able to DELIVER almost 250 toys to Holos Communities in Panorama City AND make surprise toy drops to families enjoying parks throughout the district!

Medi-Cal asset limits January

ATTENTION Medi-Cal ASSET LIMITS are coming back! Starting January 1, 2026, Medi-Cal will look at assets to decide if you can get or keep coverage. This applies if you are 65 or older, have a disability, live in a nursing home, or are in a family that makes too much money to qualify under federal tax rules. Learn more about what assets count and the new rules HERE. DPSS has created an INFORMATIONAL VIDEO to walk members and the community through several Medi-Cal changes for 2026.
