Statement on the 2024-25 California State Budget
SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Caroline Menjivar (D-San Fernando Valley) released the following statement on the 2024-25 California State Budget.
“When the January proposal and May revision for the 2024-25 State Budget were released, I knew this moment was why I decided to serve in public office. To amplify the voices of our communities that are often underserved and forgotten in California.
I’m so grateful to the many, many organizations and community members who showed up to demand the continuation of safety net programs. And, I wholeheartedly thank my leadership and colleagues who stood with us to ensure we kept the people at the forefront of our fiscal decisions.
Advocacy works! Your voices matter. We preserved a majority of the proposed cuts in Health and Human Services, and we are strategizing a path to restoring the programs we could not implement this year. It is an honor to have worked alongside such courageous and determined social justice warriors, from our communities and here in Sacramento.”
