My October Newsletter

Spooky season is here! And I hope you’ll enjoy a trunk-or-treat in your neighborhood this Halloween. Team Menjivar will be out in the 818 sharing legislative resources, so if you see us, come say hi and grab a limited-edition SD 20 Halloween tote bag!

You may have seen my good news of 6 Bills getting signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. As we are now in interim, my team and I are already in the works of researching issues in our community and  in the State that we can tackle for this next legislative session. I encourage you to reach out to my office if you have any legislative ideas to share!

As a part of my 19 million I brought down for SD 20 I presented $350,000 to Penny Lane and Abbey Road Centers to invest in living units that serve unhoused transition-aged youth. This effort will strengthen transitional housing for young adults who might otherwise face the vulnerability and uncertainty of life on the streets. Watch a recap here!
 

Attention SD20 Undergrads! Applications are open for my Fall 2026 Internship Cohort. Gain hands-on experience in state government by working at my Van Nuys district office with Team Menjivar. Apply online by October 21, 2026.
 

Do you know a Veteran who continues to serve their community? Every year I honor two Veterans who live in Senate District 20 to thank them for their service to the United States of America and the State of California. Nominations are now officially open and due by October 23rd 2026 at SD-20 Veteran of the Year Nomination Form 2026. 

Have you met Pacoima’s very own Jesus Venegas, a young actor chasing Hollywood dreams one role at a time. Venegas has starred in Snowfall, Bosch, Hard Miles, On Call, and On My Block!
