Dear Friends,
Earlier this month, voters in Los Angeles County overwhelmingly approved Measure M to ease traffic congestion throughout the county. Measure M funds will go toward a variety of projects to improve highway and roadway infrastructure and expand public transit. Residents in Chino and surrounding areas will benefit since funding will go to expand State Route 71 to three lanes on each side starting from Rio Rancho Road in Pomona all the way to the I-10 Freeway.
This expansion is a welcome sign for 20th State Senate District residents that are all too familiar with the traffic bottlenecks that keep many of us on the road and away from home for hours every day. These new lanes will also help to alleviate some of the heavy traffic congestion that creates air pollution, which disproportionately impacts the surrounding residents, especially low income families and children. As we fight every day to improve the lives of local residents, the SR-71 project will bring us one step closer to creating better commuting and living conditions in the Inland Empire.
Sincerely,

Connie M. Leyva
Senator, 20th District
