Paletas in Pomona

On Saturday, August 13, 2016, Senator Leyva hosted a “Paletas in Pomona” community conversation at the Washington Park Community Center. Approximately 75 community residents attended this successful event, where Senator Leyva discussed various issues with attendees, including homelessness, job opportunities for youth and ongoing communication with the Senator’s office.

In particular, Senator Leyva committed to continue working with local residents and state officials to address homelessness. She noted her recent support of developing homelessness and affordable housing programs that will help place and keep struggling Californians in reliable housing. She specifically noted her support of the Senate’s “No Place Like Home” initiative that will help many of the people and communities in greatest need. Additionally, representatives from the California Conversation Corps – Pomona Center and the City of Pomona spoke about existing youth employment opportunities in the city. Senator Leyva also committed to maintaining strong channels of communication with her constituents and simultaneously urged them to remain engaged with the offices of all their elected leaders, including her own.
