SACRAMENTO – Earlier today, newly sworn-in Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) jointly authored timely and important legislation that will raise California’s minimum wage to $13 in 2017.
With the ultimate goal of improving the day-to-day quality of life for California’s low wage workers and their families, SB 3 would raise the state’s minimum wage—from the current $9 an hour—to $11 per hour in 2016, and $13 per hour in 2017. This bill also includes annual adjustments for inflation beginning in 2019.
