SACRAMENTO – Important legislation authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) that would improve coordination of services for homeless students across California passed from the Senate Education Committee earlier today with strong bipartisan support.
SB 1068 would require the California Department of Education to provide local homeless student liaisons with the support they need through training and professional development materials. These materials would help homeless student liaisons both improve the standard of services provided and also meet the new federal requirements.
