Senator Leyva Secures $8.44 Million for 20th State Senate District Priorities

SACRAMENTO – Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) is pleased to announce the following 20th State Senate District budget wins spearheaded by the Senator and approved by the California State Legislature to benefit families and communities across the district:

  • $4.5 million to the City of Ontario for safety improvements for parks, road safety, and youth services.  The funding will be used to improve De Anza Park lighting and Mission Boulevard medians, as well as to enhance and expand the Ontario Youth Activities League.
  • $1.74 million to the Huerta del Valle Community Garden for program support, including the creation of an Educational Center, to enhance its ongoing efforts to develop an equitable food system that allows the greater community to have access to healthy organic produce. 
  • $1 million to the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce for the Upskill Chino Valley to allow for more expansive and sustainable programming related to workforce development, entrepreneurship development, economic development and leadership development in the Chino Valley.
  • $1 million to the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project (CLYLP) for project expansion to the Inland Empire, particularly to set up a high school program in the region.
  • $200,000 to the Colton Police Department for the purchase of two off-highway vehicles, a tow vehicle, and safety gear to help with the enforcement of criminal activity in several areas within the City of Colton that current police units cannot access.  In addition to enforcement, these vehicles will be able to assist other agencies in rescue efforts during flood conditions by rescuing people from the Santa Ana riverbed.
