SACRAMENTO – Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) today released the following statement after the California State Senate passed the 2019-2020 state budget ahead of the June 15th constitutional deadline:

“After fighting for inclusion of these important funds in the state budget, I am delighted that the Pomona Public Library will receive $280,000 to support library improvements and San Bernardino Valley College and Chaffey College’s Chino campus will together receive over $3.2 million for facility enhancements.  I appreciate that my colleagues also prioritized this funding that will certainly benefit the students and residents of the 20th State Senate District.”

“As the author of SB 22 that requires the prompt testing of rape kits, I am ecstatic that over $2.8 million is included in the state budget to facilitate the submission and testing of rape kits in California.  As SB 22 continues its legislative journey toward the Governor’s desk, this funding will help to ensure justice for survivors regardless of their zip code.”
