SACRAMENTO – Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) issued the below statement following Governor Jerry Brown’s State of the State Address to a joint session of the California State Legislature this morning:

“Just days into a new federal Administration, I greatly appreciated hearing Governor Brown’s sensible vision and plan for the state of California in response to constantly evolving rhetoric and realities nationally.  In this changing environment, I am confident that the Governor, the Senate and the Assembly will continue to set California on a path to lead the nation.”

“As Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and the Vice Chair of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus, I applaud Governor Brown’s continued commitment to keeping our communities safe and healthy.  No matter what happens in the months and years ahead, we will remain strong together.  I agree with the Governor that we must continue fighting to protect healthcare, building our state’s roads and highways and defending the basic human rights of all Californians.”
