Coffee with the Senator
On Saturday, April 22nd, Senator Leyva hosted a Community Coffee at Beola’s Southern Cuisine in Ontario. Over 40 residents and stakeholders from throughout the 20th State Senate District participated in a wide-ranging conversation on varied topics, including transportation, economic growth and healthcare. Newly elected Ontario City Councilmember Ruben Valencia brought guava-filled pastries for the early birds, as well as provided a community update for attendees.
Senator Leyva discussed her past and present legislation, as well as offered insight and current information on the work she does in Sacramento on behalf of her constituents. Many ideas, concerns and perspectives were shared by all, though not everyone agreed with one another. As Senator Leyva said, “It is ok to agree to disagree.” She ended the coffee event by announcing the youth leadership development opportunities offered through her district offices: 1.) the Young Senator’s Program and 2.) District Internships.
